NH’s Seacoast region stretches 13 miles along the shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean and is home to historical landmarks and tourist attractions featuring the area’s natural resources. Looking to implement energy efficiency solutions and upgrades at the region’s facilities, the State of NH entered into a 19-year ESPC with Ameresco. The state expects to save energy without incurring any up-front costs and will pay for the improvements with the estimated savings of $4M over the contract term.

Customer Benefits
Among the over twenty facilities that received energy efficiency measures include Rockingham County Courthouse, Science Center at Odiorne State Park, and the Department of Transportation turnpikes maintenance facility in Hampton. Without any up-front costs incurred by the State of NH, the conservation measures implemented by Ameresco will generate energy savings of $4M and will fund the improvements over the term of the contract. Other benefits include:
- CO2 offset of 659 metric tons per year
- Enhanced occupancy comfort for staff and visitors
Solution
Ameresco’s energy efficiency measures and upgrades at the Seacoast facilities included lighting system improvements, new windows, new transformers, pipe insulation, and energy management systems in addition to:
- Demand-controlled ventilation
- Chiller replacement
- Infiltration reductions
- Automatic temperature controls
- High-efficiency aquarium pumps
- Three PV solar arrays
