One of the toughest barriers to achieving net zero is how to decarbonize the thermal side of energy production (e.g. building heating). Electrification with heat pumps has been proposed as a broadly applicable solution, and there is significant heat pump deployment. However electrification may not be a viable solution in every case, and one may need to consider other pathways like geothermal, RNG and/or green-hydrogen based solutions.
At this event NECEC will convene leaders in the built environment along with technology experts and developers to discuss the pros and cons of each solution. This will cover a range of low carbon options utilizing many technologies such as (but not limited to) Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and District Energy. Viewers will also hear from local community representatives about their challenges and which solutions might deliver the best results for EJ communities.
