Worcester Business Journal – Ameresco Landfill Project Receives Energy Award

Framingham clean tech firm Ameresco, Inc. has received an award for its solar installation at the Foothill Landfill in San Joaquin County, California.

The project received a Top Project of the Year Award from the Environment + Energy Leader Awards program as an example of how to repurpose underutilized land for energy savings, according to a release by Ameresco. Over the past seven years, Ameresco partnered with the officials of San Joaquin County to develop and maintain a landfill gas-to-energy facility in 2014 and over 13,000 solar panels in 2020.

The project is good for the environment while offsetting rising electric costs to taxpayers, Supervisor Tom Patti, chairman of the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, said in the release.
