West Lothian Council selected Ameresco as their energy solution partner through the Non Domestic Energy Efficiency (NCEE) framework for Public Sector Bodies in Scotland. Through detailed investment grade audits, significant energy efficiency opportunities were identified across 9 sites spanning primary and high schools, and a care home.
“The project investment has enabled us to significantly reduce our energy consumption across a range of sites, resulting in lower carbon emissions and energy costs and assisting us in our aim of achieving net-zero emissions.”

West Lothian Council now enjoys significant upgrades to its energy infrastructure. The Investment Grade Proposal (NGP) prioritized the ECMs to deliver the greatest value to the Council. The suite of ECMs are delivering:
Extended life and optimised operation of existing equipment
Improved comfort levels for staff, students, and building users – Better environment for children studies
Reduced maintenance costs (£31,532 saved annually) and enhanced environment
Significant reduction in annual energy and maintenance costs
Community workforce development benefits via labor apprenticeships
Improvements saved 604 tonnes of CO2 per year
West Lothian Council and Ameresco worked in close partnership to ensure the optimal solution was identified, taking the requirements of all stakeholders into account during the process. The project included several energy conservation measures (ECMs) that were implemented across the 9 buildings in scope, deploying the available funding to deliver the best outcomes for the council.
