Delivering Energy Savings Projects in Education Institutions
Synopsis
Edinburgh College, together with three other Scottish colleges, contracted with Ameresco to identify and deliver guaranteed energy savings as part of the first multi-site Energy Performance Contract awarded through the Scottish Non-Domestic Energy Efficiency Framework (NDEEF).
Ameresco found and implemented energy conservation measures, including LED lighting and controls, combined heat and power (CHP) upgrades, controls optimization, variable speed drives, smart occupancy controls, low flow taps and showers, building envelope improvements and transformer tap downs.
These measures achieved a combined annual energy saving of £372,000 across the four colleges and resulted in a 13% reduction in carbon emissions from Edinburgh College.
