Environment + Energy Leader – Mission Critical Operations – Achieving Energy Resiliency on Campus at US MCRD Parris Island
In 2015, the United States Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island selected Ameresco to complete a comprehensive energy infrastructure project with the overarching goal of optimizing energy resiliency. The MCRD Parris Island is responsible for training more than 20,000 recruits annually and its operations are mission-critical for preserving national security. Financed by an energy savings performance contract (ESPC), Ameresco deployed combined heat and power and solar photovoltaic generation assets, installed an advanced battery energy storage system and automated microgrid control system, and implemented a variety of energy conservation measures to optimize efficiency and reduce reliance on the main utility grid. The MCRD Parris Island has deployed more than 10 MW of on-site energy and will save $6.9 million annually in utility costs and reduce 37,165 metric tons of CO2.
