Ameresco Project Receives the Federal Energy and Water Management Award
Framingham, MA – Ameresco’s project with the Veterans Integrated Services Network, Region 6, Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center has received top honors as recognized by the Department of Energy and the Office of the President.
“The Ameresco team is very proud of this achievement. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a dedicated group of individuals at VISN, and that the DOE and Office of the President recognize the efforts of all involved that made this project successful,” said Mohammad Huq, Director of Federal Engineering for Ameresco.
The Federal Energy and Water Management Award recipients are chosen from the top 25% of buildings nationwide. In 2003, only three buildings were selected as “outstanding examples of energy efficiency in the Federal sector.
Ameresco is proud to count its U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center project in Richmond, VA as part of this esteemed group. The 2 million square foot building, which earned an Energy Star score of 95 out of a possible 100, underwent upgrades including the replacement of lighting, steam traps, boiler controls and a chiller. These projects have already resulted in significant improvements in the facility’s energy savings.
“The superior performance of these Federal buildings reflects the leadership, dedication and contributions of GSA and VA building designers, operators, and managers who are responsible for the Federal government’s real property assets.” – DOE, Federal Energy Management Program
