Ameresco Named Finalist in Two Categories for 2020 S&P Global Platts Global Energy Awards

Massachusetts-based renewable energy company included as a finalist in Lifetime Achievement and Construction Project of the Year categories.

Framingham, Mass. – November 19, 2020 – Ameresco, Inc., (NYSE: AMRC), a leading energy efficiency and renewable energy company, today announced that S&P Global Platts has named it a finalist in the 2020 S&P Global Platts Global Energy Awards’ Lifetime Achievement and Construction Project of the Year categories.

Ameresco’s founder, President and CEO George Sakellaris has been selected as a finalist for the respected Lifetime Achievement award. As a pioneer in the energy services business with more than 40 years of industry experience, George recently led Ameresco to celebrate its 20th year in business.

“Working closely with [George] over the last 20 years and watching him lead this once start-up company to become a publicly-traded energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions industry leader, has been an extraordinary and gratifying experience,” said David J. Anderson, Executive Vice President and Director of Ameresco. “His vision, leadership and business instincts are second-to-none. His passion for this business, and relentless dedication to succeed, is contagious and unmatched.”

Ameresco has also been named a finalist for the Construction Project of the Year award for its wastewater treatment biogas-to-renewable natural gas facility in Phoenix, Arizona. As a first-of-its-kind project, involving both complexity and innovation, the facility has reduced 44,671 metric tons of carbon dioxide in the past year alone. In addition to helping the City of Phoenix achieve its goal of 100 percent carbon neutrality by 2050, this plant has the sustainable equivalency of taking 70,000 cars off the road annually.

“We are incredibly honored to be named a finalist among these impressive and complex projects,” said Ameresco Executive Vice President Michael Bakas. “Our team is proud to have been involved in developing and building such a transformative facility as part of the clean energy revolution our society is championing.”

The S&P Global Platts Global Energy Awards showcase corporate and individual leaders across all verticals of the energy complex. Winners from each category will be chosen by an independent panel of judges and announced at the virtual Global Energy Awards Gala on December 10, 2020. The complete list of finalists for all categories can be found at https://www.spglobal.com/platts/global-energy-awards/finalists.
