Ameresco Tapped for Solar Projects

Ameresco Inc., a Framingham-based provider of energy efficiency solutions, said it will install, own, and operate solar power systems at five state facilities.

The agreement with the Massachusetts State Department of Energy Resources calls for the systems to be installed on the rooftops of two terminals at Logan International Airport as well as on buildings at Bridgewater State University, Worcester State University, and the Canton Housing Authority, Ameresco said in a press release.

The arrangement calls for those entities to buy all the electricity generated by those systems from Ameresco for a 20-year period, the company said.

Ameresco said it plans to buy some of the equipment for the installations from Solectria, a Lawrence company that makes equipment that converts the solar generated direct current electricity to alternating current electricity.
