San Francisco Housing Authority and Ameresco Announce Donation to Mayor Edwin Lee’s “I Am the Future” Scholarship Fund

San Francisco, California, Ameresco, Inc., a leading energy efficiency and renewable energy company that was selected competitively by the Housing Authority to manage projects and improvements in over 5,400 public housing units in San Francisco, is partnering with the San Francisco Housing Authority (SFHA) to donate $5,000 to Mayor Edwin Lee’s “I am the Future,” Scholarship Fund that will help a public housing resident reach their educational goals.

“During the course of our work overseeing energy efficiency and infrastructure improvements for the SFHA, we have had the opportunity to speak with many residents in public housing,”stated Trip Tripathi, Vice President, Ameresco. “We are very aware of the critical importance of education and how expensivea quality education is. While Ameresco’s work is oriented to conservation efforts, we also seek to provide other opportunities to improve the quality of resident life, such as this program.  This contribution to the Mayor’s Scholarship fund is a show of our support for his efforts to help low income students achieve.”

“I grew up in public housing, and know first hand, how difficult it is to pursue an education. I appreciate that Ameresco is willing to work with us to help youth in San Francisco. Providing opportunities like this is a key initiative of the Authority,” said Executive Director, Mr. Henry A. Alvarez III.

The San Francisco Housing Authority in conjunction with Amerescois in the final stages of outfitting approximately 5,400 units with various energy efficient amenities, such as lighting and water upgrades, new heating and ventilation systems, and cogeneration.
