Newmarket-Tay Power Partners with Ameresco in Energy Reduction Initiative

Tornoto, ON. – November 1, 2011 – Energy management company, Ameresco Canada, today entered into an agreement with Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd to help implement local conservation initiatives. The agreement will see Ameresco Canada act as Newmarket-Tay Power’s Conservation Program Marketing and Project Implementation partner in response to the Ontario Ministry of Energy’s directive to reduce peak energy demand by 1300MW across the province by 2014.

With a four-year conservation and demand management target of 9MW peak demand reduction and 34,000MWh consumption reduction, the agreement will see Ameresco Canada assist Newmarket-Tay Power achieve a significant portion of these targets through applicable programs.

“We are excited to have this opportunity to work with Newmarket-Tay Power to help them achieve their energy reduction targets set by the Ontario Energy Board as well as working with their major customers to become more energy efficient,” said Ameresco Canada President, Mario Iusi.

Implemented through the Ontario Power Authority’s saveONenergy program, Ameresco Canada will work closely with Newmarket-Tay Power’s >50kW customers to become more energy efficient while helping Newmarket-Tay Power achieve its conservation demand management targets.
