Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development (LHAND) Completes Energy Conservation Project with Ameresco

US Congressman Tierney and Lynn Mayor Kennedy join local leaders to commemorate project that is expected to reduce Housing Authority energy use by $600,000 annually

Framingham, MA – Ameresco, Inc. (NYSE:AMRC), a leading energy efficiency and renewable energy company, announced today the completion of an energy conservation project with the Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development (LHAND). U.S. Congressman John F. Tierney, Lynn Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy, LHAND Executive Director Charles Gaeta, Paul Gaudet and Tim Leonard, and Ameresco Executive Vice President, David J. Anderson, commemorated the project during a ribbon-cutting ceremony today in Lynn, MA.

The newly completed project provides a series of energy efficiency and crucial infrastructure upgrades to LHAND facilities, including water conservation, HVAC and insulation technology solutions. The upgrades are expected to save LHAND over $600,000 per year.

“We are committed to enhancing the quality of our community and building stronger and healthier neighborhoods. This ongoing energy efficiency project does just this,” said Charles Gaeta, Executive Director of the Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development (LHAND). “Ameresco is a great partner and we are pleased to further improve the comfort and quality of life for our residents.”

“This project further reaffirms our City’s commitment to providing decent, safe and affordable housing for Lynn residents,” said Lynn Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy. “The City of Lynn commends LHAND and Ameresco for the important work they are doing on energy efficiency for the residents of Lynn. We are hopingl to emulate this project in other areas around the City as well.”

US Congressman (D-MA) John Tierney added, “LHAND is such a crucial organization for the residents of Lynn, and the project will help this outstanding team to ensure the long-term health of its facilities.”

“We are pleased to have been the chosen local partner to bring energy efficiency improvements to LHAND and to truly make a difference to the residents of Lynn,” said David J. Anderson, Executive Vice President, Ameresco. “Not only will these improvements save LHAND a substantial amount of money per year, but it will improve the comfort and quality of life for residents, especially in the harsh New England winters. We are always proud of the energy efficiency contracts we have, but when it directly affects the everyday lives of citizens, it is that much more rewarding.”

Ameresco upgraded a number of facilities across LHAND’s portfolio by replacing central heating systems that required continual boiler section repairs and underground piping that required continual heating plants; installing new baseboard heaters and thermostats; and installing insulation in attics, crawl spaces and walls to further enhance the new heating systems and recently installed ventilation systems.

The Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development (LHAND) has been assisting low and moderate-income families and individuals with safe and affordable housing since 1948. LHAND provides a wide variety of housing opportunities throughout the City of Lynn, including State Senior Housing Programs (351 one bedroom units), State Family Housing Programs (30 units), Curwin Circle Family Housing Program (278 units), Wall Plaza Federal Housing Program (176 units), as well as 52 private housing units.
