CleanTechnica – Solar Power Project Completed On Capped Landfill In Rhode Island
The Coventry Landfill Solar project in Rhode Island has just been completed and is turning a capped landfill into a 5.74 MW clean‑energy site that benefits both the environment and the local community. By repurposing land that had no other viable use, this project expands the renewable‑energy capacity without additional land development.
The installation will generate over 7.7 million kWh annually and is expected to avoid 3,759 tons of CO₂ in its first year. This project highlights how clean‑energy development can strengthen municipal finances while reducing emissions.
