California and City Officials to Join Ameresco to Mark Completion of New Landfill Gas-to-Energy Project

WHAT:

Local leaders will join Ameresco executives for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to recognize the completion of construction on the 1.4 megawatt (MW) landfill gas-to-energy project at the Johnson Canyon landfill in Gonzales, California.  Ameresco Johnson Canyon, LLC has an agreement with the Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority (SVSWA) to purchase the landfill gas for use in this plant located approximately 20 miles south of Salinas and a long term, Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the City of Palo Alto, for the renewable energy.

A portion of the revenues from the sale of that power will be returned to the SVSWA for the duration of the 20-year contract and the project is expected to deliver economic benefits and jobs to the region.  Ameresco designed, built, owns, operates and maintains the facility, which generates enough clean energy to power nearly 1,000 homes.
