Ameresco Employee Diane E. Mills Selected as Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Region III Energy Manager of the Year

FRAMINGHAM, MA and FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – September 30, 2014 – Ameresco, Inc. (NYSE: AMRC), a leading energy efficiency and renewable energy company, announced today the selection of Diane E. Mills, Account Executive, as the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Region III Energy Manager of the Year.  Ms. Mills, an active advocate for energy efficiency projects in Michigan, received the award on Tuesday, September 30, in Washington, D.C. at the 2014 AEE Regional Awards Presentation.

Ms. Mills is a founding member of Michigan’s Energy Services Coalition Chapter and has served as the Chapter’s President for two years.  The Coalition’s goal is to promote energy efficiency in the State of Michigan, including using energy savings performance contracting (ESPC) as one model.  She has successfully led a number of efforts to encourage ESPC projects in Michigan, including Farwell Area Schools, Ovid-Elsie Area Schools, Mesick Consolidated Schools, Montcalm County Community College, City of Battle Creek, and Alpena County.

“I am honored to be recognized by the AEE for my work,” said Ms. Mills.  “It is exciting to be part of the tremendous change that is occurring in Michigan in providing affordable funding for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. The state has a backlog of buildings in need of infrastructure upgrades and improvements, and once implemented, these projects are expected to result in not only enhanced buildings and environments but local job creation as well.   Ameresco’s approach to Energy Savings Performance Contracting helps clients to achieve their true potential for eliminating waste and using energy savings to pay for much needed building improvements.”

Ms. Mills’ involvement with Michigan’s Energy Services Coalition includes coordination with Michigan’s Economic Development Corporation to recognize and promote large energy efficiency projects through the creation of the Economic Leadership in Energy Efficiency award.  She has partnered with the Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget as well as the National Association of Energy Services Companies (NAESCO) to provide training to the state agencies and staff on how to encourage and accelerate energy efficiency projects.  One such partnership with the Michigan Public Service Commission and utility companies has led to the restructuring of utility rebate incentives for large multi-measure, multi-year projects.
