The New England Council – Ameresco to Build New Power Plant at Maine Navy Base

Council member Ameresco was hired by the United States Navy to build a new $58 million power plant at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNSY) in Kittery, ME.

Ameresco will construct a 7.5-megawatt plant to supplement the current 14-MW facility at the shipyard. In addition, the project will increase battery energy storage, power distribution, and build a new air compressor in the shipyard. The project is expected to save $175 million over the life of the contract, and will modernize energy usage at one of the only four Navy yards in the country.
