The Dallas Morning News – Mesquite begins converting manual water meters to new electronic system

The city of Mesquite is beginning work this week to convert its manual water meters to an electronic system, which will give residents timely access to water consumption information, according to a city statement.

The conversion project — which will affect all residential and commercial customers — will upgrade the city’s existing billing infrastructure so residents will “have better control over their water usage and monthly bills,” the statement said.

Ameresco and their subcontractor Pedal Valve (PVI) will be replacing the outdated meters with modernized equipment in about a 30-minute window for residents beginning this week. The city said that it plans to mail notices to residents when work is scheduled to begin in their neighborhood.
