Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald – Solar farm plans adjusted due to badgers being found on site
The team behind the construction of North Ayrshire Council’s two new solar farms have revealed they are on track to open early this year.
And they’ve even managed to adjust the plans at one of the sites to protect badgers.
Renewable energy specialists Ameresco are building solar farms at landfill sites in Nethermains in Kilwinning and Shewalton in Irvine.
But they faced a challenge when badgers were discovered late in the design phase on the Nethermains solar farm.
The team carried out a comprehensive redesign to protect their habitat.
