Renewables Now – Ameresco builds 26.3-MW solar farm in Illinois village
US renewables company Ameresco Inc (NYSE:AMRC) said on Wednesday that it has completed a 26.3-MWdc solar project in the village of DePue in the US state of Illinois, creating the largest solar farm of its kind in Bureau County.
The DePue plant, consisting of 65,832 solar photovoltaic panels, is expected to produce 37 GWh of electricity in its first year of operation. This achievement will support Illinois’ goal of reaching 25% renewable energy by 2025, Ameresco said.
The company developed and built the solar farm on a brownfield site. As the owner and operator of the plant, Ameresco will continue to provide maintenance and support services throughout the life cycle of the facility.
