The company was founded in 2000 by George Sakellaris, a pioneer in the energy service business. Ameresco’s Environmental Impact
We have a goal to reduce our customers’ carbon footprints by a cumulative 500 million metric tons by 2050. In 2024, our renewable energy assets and customer projects delivered an emissions reduction of approximately 17 million metric tons of carbon dioxide, and over 125 million cumulative metric tons since going public in 2010. This carbon offset is approximately equal to one of the following:
