Ameresco Expands Capability to Deliver Renewable Energy Solutions

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (May 15, 2007) – Ameresco , Inc. has purchased Southwest Photovoltaic Systems, Inc. (Southwest PV), a Tomball, Texas-based designer, integrator and distributor of photovoltaic (solar electric), wind and other renewable energy systems, serving customers throughout the United States and the world. Southwest PV has a focus on specialty off-grid and small to mid-scale grid connected applications.

Ameresco is North America’s largest independent, single-source provider of energy solutions and has implemented more than $3 billion in energy-related services including energy efficiency, infrastructure renewal, landfill gas, water conservation, and natural gas and electricity supply. The addition of Southwest PV strengthens Ameresco’s ability to deliver integrated solar photovoltaic systems to current and new customers and expands the company’s presence in the southern and western states.

“On a regular basis, we aggressively pursue opportunities to increase the depth of services Ameresco can provide its customers,” said George P. Sakellaris, Ameresco’s founder and chief executive officer. “With this acquisition our range of renewable energy products and services now extends from large scale photovoltaic and wind development all the way to smaller specialty systems requiring experienced component selection and realistic solutions. The talent and resources from Southwest PV add to our ability to deliver outstanding results and innovative energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions for our customers.”

Established in 1986, Southwest PV operates branch offices in Nashville, Tennessee and Denver, Colorado and has well over 100 years of combined experience in photovoltaic power. The range of application experience within Southwest PV is quite extensive with specialties in industrial/commercial applications; transportation; water management and delivery; lighting; grid and off-grid habitation projects; small-scale wind systems; and back-up power systems of up to several hundred kW of integrated PV.

“Southwest PV has been recognized throughout the photovoltaics industry for pioneering many state-of-the-art PV applications over the past 20 years and we look forward to being a part of Ameresco’s future growth,” said Marshall Blalock, Jr. founder and president of Southwest PV. “The combination of Ameresco and Southwest PV creates a strong synergy in the PV renewable energy industry. Together we embark on many fronts to help this nation reduce its carbon emissions and bring reliable electric power to millions of people on and off the utility grid network. I couldn’t be more pleased about joining up with the team at Ameresco in helping to shape the energy future.”

With over 50 offices throughout the United States and Canada, Ameresco, Inc. is North America’s premier energy services and renewable resources provider. Ameresco’s innovative strategies and customer-tailored solutions enable Ameresco to provide customers with a broad range of offerings in renewable energy. Ameresco helps government agencies, schools, hospitals, colleges and universities, utilities, public housing authorities, social housing and commercial and industrial customers reduce operating expenses, increase energy reliability, and enhance the environment.
