SUMMARY:CPES Webinar: Impacts of COVID-19 on the Energy Industry
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, July 14 | 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM \nJoin Connecticut Power and Energy Society (CPES) and the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) Energy Section on Tuesday\, July 14 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM to discuss the impacts of COVID-19 on various aspects of the energy industry. This roundtable discussion will examine how disruptions from the pandemic have affected renewable energy developers\, regulated utilities\, and competitive third-party providers. \nModerator: Sophia Browning\, Associate at Day Pitney LLP \nFeatured Speakers: \nSteven Pieslak\, Director\, Procurement at Ameresco\nElizabeth Murphy\, Supervisor\, C&I\, Conservation & Load Management at Avangrid\nDavid Ricketts\, Director\, Retail Policy at Vistra Energy Corp.\nBrian Benito\, Jr\, Permitting Manager at Kitty Hawk Offshore Wind\, Avangrid Renewables \nThis opportunity to hear from this exceptional panel comes three months after the initial stay-at-home orders went into effect. States have now begun their phased reopenings. What have the impacts been on these industry sectors over the past months? What does the future look like? Have supply chain disruptions caused delays in renewable energy development? Have social distancing limitations impacted the ability to sell competitive retail products to consumers? How have utilities continued to provide energy efficiency services to customers? \nThese questions\, and more\, will be explored during this timely webinar. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Energy + Environment Leader 2020 Award Summit
DESCRIPTION:Mission Critical Operations – Achieving Energy Resiliency on Campus at US MCRD Parris Island \nJuly 21st | 2:30pm ET\nNicole Bulgarino\, Executive Vice President Federal Solutions\, Ameresco\nRobert Johnson\, Senior Vice President\, Hannon Armstrong \nIn 2015\, the United States Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island selected Ameresco to complete a comprehensive energy infrastructure project with the overarching goal of optimizing energy resiliency. The MCRD Parris Island is responsible for training more than 20\,000 recruits annually and its operations are mission-critical for preserving national security. Financed by an energy savings performance contract (ESPC)\, Ameresco deployed combined heat and power and solar photovoltaic generation assets\, installed an advanced battery energy storage system and automated microgrid control system\, and implemented a variety of energy conservation measures to optimize efficiency and reduce reliance on the main utility grid. The MCRD Parris Island has deployed more than 10 MW of on-site energy and will save $6.9 million annually in utility costs and reduce 37\,165 metric tons of CO2. \nDuring this webinar\, attendees will learn about the mission critical energy strategy in place at MCRD Parris Island\, featuring cutting-edge renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies across its 8\,095-acre campus. This session will discuss measures taken to reduce energy demand by 75% and reduce water consumption by 25%\, and explore how on-site generation and advanced energy technologies provide the base with energy resiliency features to maintain power during utility interruptions. During the discussion\, campuses of all shapes and sizes will be inspired by this 2020 Energy + Environment Award Winning Project on how achieve critical resiliency and sustainability goals.

SUMMARY:The New Normal: How to Create Healthy and Safe Work Environments that Save Energy and Money
DESCRIPTION:The global health crisis brought on by COVID-19 has introduced a heightened awareness around the importance of healthy\, safe\, resilient working environments. What does “back to work” look like at your campus or facility? What is the new normal? \nJoin this webinar with Ameresco to identify immediate\, actionable steps that promote health and safety in your buildings\, while generating long term cost savings. We will outline the important steps\, beginning with implementing critical\, health-focused energy conservation measures that reduce demand and eliminate excess energy usage. \nThen\, we will explore the opportunity of adding renewable energy generation for a clean energy source. Finally\, we will consider coupling renewable energy generation with energy storage and an integrated microgrid for resiliency and reliability. \nQuestions and topics we will address: \n\nWhere do you begin when it comes to creating healthy and safe work environments?\nHow do you know if renewable energy generation is economically viable for your location?\nHow do you prioritize ESG (environmental\, social\, and governance) efforts when responding to the impact of the pandemic?\nWhat resources are available to help identify our immediate needs and available options?\n\nSpeakers:\nJudith Judson\, Vice President – Distributed Energy Systems\, Ameresco\nMark Sandeen\, Lexington Select Board\, Town of Lexington\, MA\nModerator: Debra Chanil\, Research & Content Director\, Smart Energy Decisions \nRegister Now
