SUMMARY:Green Buildings & Smart Cities Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Green Buildings & Smart Cities Webinar\nOctober 9th |  12pm PT / 3pm ET \nEBI presents a webinar summarizing climate change business journal’s recent research on the green buildings and smart cities market segments\, and prospects for growth and market evolution in the 2020s. \nA summary of EBI’s segmentation and quantification of the climate change industry precedes a more detailed discussion of business opportunities in green buildings and smart cities. Trends in client investment strategies and the competitive dynamics of leading players are discussed with participants from both market segments. \nUrbanization of the world’s population continues and buildings still account for 39% of GHG emissions\, highlighting the importance of these two challenges. Smart city markets may be several years behind green building markets\, but are emerging faster as the pace of technology powers devices\, connectivity\, and consumer\, civic & corporate investment around the world. \nHosted by:\nGrant Ferrier\, Editor\, Climate Change Business Journal \nPanelists:\nTim Farkas – Ameresco\nDr. Avi Patwardhan – Jacobs\nSean Quinn – HOK\nPeter Kindel – SOM\nJay Mezher – Mott MacDonald\nPeter Glus – Arcadis\nMarwan Madi – CDM Smith \n  \nWatch a clip of the webinar here: https://www.ameresco.com/portfolio-item/green-buildings-and-smart-cities-environmental-business-international-webinar-clip/

SUMMARY:Smart Cities Connect 2020 Virtual Conference and Expo
DESCRIPTION:Session: \nCase Study: Modernizing Oregon’s Highways with High-Efficiency Lighting for Economic & Environmental Benefits\nTuesday\, October 27th | 1:00pm – 2:00pm ET \nElizabeth Papadopoulos\, Consultant Project Manager\, ODOT Region 1\nJoe O’Donnell\, Northwest Sales Manager\, Ameresco\nJason Carver\, Lead Project Development Engineer\, Ameresco \nSince 1913\, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has helped create and maintain a safe and reliable multimodal transportation system that connects people and communities across Oregon; from the days of horse-drawn road scrapers to today’s computer-operated machinery and solar highways. In 2018 — guided by its commitment to using innovative program design and technologies to solve transportation problems — ODOT partnered with Ameresco on a lighting pilot program aimed at improving public safety\, reducing energy costs and freeing up resources for other projects and maintenance across ODOT’s system. Financed by an energy savings performance contract (ESPC) that allows the program’s energy savings to be applied to its costs\, Ameresco will replace more than 10\,000 low-efficiency highway lights in the Portland metro area with LEDs to create brighter\, safer roadways that are more energy efficient and less costly to maintain. Speakers on this panel will provide attendees with an overview on the ODOT pilot program\, outline the planning and procurement process\, identify common obstacles and explain how to overcome them. The panel will also discuss various financing options available for major energy efficiency projects such as this one and describe some of the latest technologies they involve. \n\nRegister Now to Watch our Session and Visit Ameresco at our Virtual Booth!

SUMMARY:California Energy Summit 2020
DESCRIPTION:Session: \nRole of Microgrids and Other Green Technologies \nOctober 28th | 9:40-10:25 am PT\nJacqueline DeRosa\, Vice President – Battery Energy Storage Systems\, Ameresco \nThe proliferation of PSPSs and the realization that this could be the “new normal” in California for the foreseeable future has drastically increased interest in deploying local solar + storage and microgrid projects. However\, it is unclear now what entities are best suited to procure these systems\, as well as whether it makes more sense to deploy small\, front of the meter systems or more traditional rooftop solar plus BTM storage units that have proliferated in California over the past few years. This panel will explore: \n\nWhat role could local solar + storage projects play?\nIs this an effective model for grid hardening?\nWhat are the advantages of small front of the meter solar + storage that can be used as a centralized source of power?\nWho will do the procurement of these systems—CCAs\, IOUs or other parties?\nIs this a model that can serve the local community?\nWhat mechanisms are needed to incentivize and monetize these sorts of projects?

SUMMARY:Advanced Energy 101 for LPCs: Traditional and Innovative Financing Models for Distributed Generation
DESCRIPTION:TVA responded to stakeholder input and market demand for more advanced energy options when it announced the Flexibility Proposal earlier this year. The Flexibility Proposal gives local power companies the opportunity to self-generate or procure distributed generation. Technologies and solutions seem limitless and ever changing as utilities try to navigate how to become energy companies of the future. So how do local power companies start exploring options that are best for them\, their customers\, and their specific demands? \nThe Tennessee Advanced Energy Business Council and Seven States Power are co-hosting an “Advanced Energy 101” webinar series for local power companies to learn more about distributed generation options\, advanced energy and finance models. \nThe third webinar in our series is “Traditional and Innovative Financing Models for Distributed Generation” (2-3:30pm ET). Panelists include: \nSteve Seifried\, Tennessee Account Executive\, Ameresco\nChristian Dick\, Sr. Project Developer\, Large Scale Distributed Energy Resources\, Ameresco\nVirginia A. Williams\, Senior Vice President\, Project Finance\, Silicon Ranch Corporation \nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:GFOAT Virtual Fall Conference
DESCRIPTION:Financial Decision Making in a Climate Changing Environment\nNovember 19th | 11:30am – 12:30pm CT \nThe negative impacts of climate change on the environment\, resulting in economic\, health and public safety challenges\, are significant enough to factor into a state’s and municipality’s credit rating process. The data around global temperature increases\, rising sea levels\, and acidification are consistently trending towards more extreme weather events known as climate shocks. While it is impossible to attribute any one event to climate change specifically\, the 2017 hurricane known as Hurricane Harvey was described as a 1\,000-year flood. Harris County\, in Texas\, sustained significant damage from the major flooding associated with Hurricane Harvey and\, two years later\, continues to rebuild a stronger\, more resilient community. With extreme weather events\, or climate shocks\, becoming more common\, there has been an increased interest in resiliency and sustainability from state and local governments\, motivated by the environmental and economic benefits. In this session we will discuss the impacts of climate change on state/municipality credit ratings\, the importance of resiliency and sustainability and an example of how a local county is addressing their resiliency and sustainability needs from a financial perspective after an extreme weather event. \nModerator: Chad Nobles\, Senior Account Executive\, Ameresco  \nPanelists:\nTim Farkas\, Director – Finance\, Ameresco \nGera McGuire\, Senior Vice President\, Moody’s Investors Service\nAmy Perez\, Director of Financial Management\, Harris County Budget Management  \nRegister Now to Watch our Session and Visit Ameresco at our Virtual Booth!
