What if you could take methane gas - generated by a landfill, but wasted - and use it to produce renewable energy capable of powering homes and a nearby prison?
That's what a group of private business interests and government officials promised to do in Jefferson City at a ceremonial ground-breaking Thursday. Their plan is to construct a new gas-to-energy plant near the Jefferson City Correctional Center that uses methane from the Jefferson City Landfill on Moreau River Access Road.
