Biography

Michael O’Connor is the Vice President of the Northwest Region for Ameresco Quantum. He founded Quantum Engineering & Development 10 years ago, growing the business to a position as the pre-eminent Energy Services Company in the Northwest, with over $15 million in annual revenue. He worked extensively with the State of Washington, private owners, school districts, municipalities and utilities to develop and implement energy and water conservation projects. In 2010, Mr. O’Connor led the effort to team with Ameresco to create Ameresco Quantum.

Mr. O’Connor has been involved in the engineering, development, construction, and project management of energy and water savings performance contracts for over 20 years. Mr. O’Connor has worked in all aspects of the energy services field – sales and project development, preparation of energy studies, project management, engineering, construction management, balancing and commissioning, and monitoring and verification. In developing and managing performance contracts, Mr. O’Connor endeavors to improve the facility while saving energy and water resources.

Recently, Mr. O’Connor has led the growth of the Northwest Regional office of Ameresco – doubling both the number of personnel and project volume. In the past year, the office has represented clients that accounted for over 54% of the projects that received energy grants in a recent Washington State grant program.

Prior to his career in energy and water conservation projects, Mr. O’Connor was a test engineer on nuclear aircraft carriers at Newport News Shipbuilding in VA, and an automated system test engineer at Babcock & Wilcox in Lynchburg, VA. In Lynchburg, he tested software and hardware used in the manufacturing and quality assurance of nuclear reactor cores.

Mr. O’Connor earned his M.B.A. from the College of William & Mary and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University.
