Biography

Mr. Spence is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Ameresco, Inc. and its subsidiary companies. He directs and supervises Ameresco’s finance, treasury, accounting and risk management activities and is responsible for raising project capital, supervising the preparation of business plans and annual budgets, managing financial performance, and financial reporting. He helped raise over $500 million of project-related financing and negotiated the company’s corporate credit facilities.

Before coming to Ameresco in 2002, Mr. Spence served as chief financial officer of ABB Energy Capital L.L.C., a financial services company which provides project financing for the energy-efficiency and small power-generation markets,. Mr. Spence previously worked for the Bank of Boston. In addition to the energy industry, his experience includes implementing and managing overseas operations. He began his career 28 years ago at the international accounting firm of Deloitte Haskins and Sells.

Mr. Spence earned an M.B.A. and a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Puget Sound, and a B.A. in Business Administration from Washington State University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.)
