A ribbon-cutting and tour of the Northeast Water Pollution Control Plant’s (NEWPCP) new Biogas Cogeneration Facility. This waste biogas-to-energy facility will generate electricity and thermal energy for on-site use and will reduce carbon emissions by 22,000 tons per year, which is equivalent to 4,833 cars off the road or 2.84 million gallons of gasoline.
This project was made possible through a public private partnership between the City of Philadelphia’s Water Department, Ameresco, Inc., Bank of America, AECOM and PECO.
