A new light: Methuen turns to LED streetlights
Replacement boosts safety, saves money

METHUEN — One by one, the city’s streets are getting a little bit brighter.

Crews are replacing Methuen’s 3,677 existing streetlight fixtures with new, light emitting diode (LED) fixtures in an effort to save energy and maintenance costs.

The work is one of several energy efficiency projects that have been conducted in Methuen by Ameresco, a Framingham-based energy company, under a more than $3 million bond.
