Ameresco can help you achieve these key goals:
- Improve or renew aging facilities
- Increase occupant comfort
- Reduce costs
- Take advantage of opportunities created by deregulation,
such as bulk purchasing of commodities
- Mitigate energy-related risks and costs
- Implement new energy strategies like distributed generation,
cogeneration, electric-to-gas conversions
Citizens Conservation Services, an Ameresco subsidiary,
focuses on conventional and publicly assisted multi-family housing
facilities exclusively. Fourteen million U.S. households live in
these facilities, which include private rental housing, public housing,
retirement communities, and condominium complexes with 50 apartments
or more.
The public housing market can significantly benefit from performance-based
utility service contracts. Performance contracting was pioneered
by Citizens in l985 to address the $1.3 billion annual bill controlled
by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Over 100 public housing authorities have used energy performance
contracting to install an estimated $200 million in energy-related
capital improvements. That's about $3,000 per apartment unit.
The Citizens staff has a 16-year history of significantly reducing
utility costs in occupied multi-family buildings nationwide using
a performance-oriented approach to strategically address equipment
and systems, energy management, and resident education.
