WHAT:

Rhode Island Governor Lincoln D. Chafee and local leaders will join the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) and Ameresco executives for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to recognize the completion of the first phase of a $14.8 million multi-phase Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) that is expected to save the school an estimated $1.2 million annually. With nearly 18,000 students, CCRI is New England’s largest community college and this budget-neutral project will enable the college to apply cost savings from energy-efficient equipment to help renew campus facilities and building systems.  As part of the ESPC, Ameresco implemented building improvements that will reduce energy and water costs while improving CCRI’s overall sustainability throughout its four campuses. The event will take place at its Warwick-based Knight Campus where the heaviest concentration of efficiency work was completed. Guided tours will be offered immediately following the ceremony.
