America's ESCO

Using approved alternative financing methods to reduce building energy consumption

Ameresco offers Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC), Utility Energy Service Contracts (UESC), Enhanced Use Leases (EUL) and comprehensive energy supply services to federal agencies. We are a pre-qualified ESCO (Energy Services Company) under the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy programs. In addition, Ameresco is an awardee under seven different regional, national, and technology specific "Super ESPC" IDIQ contracts.

Our mission is to help agencies meet the requirements of the Energy Policy Act of 1992, Executive Order 12902, and Executive Order 13123 by providing the energy-related services to reduce building energy consumption to mandated levels. Our goal is national energy independence.

Financing Projects

Performance contracting requires the contractor to furnish the capital required to implement energy efficiency projects. The cost of that invested capital (the interest rate) can significantly impact the scope and duration of the selected measures.

Ameresco's large institutional customer base and successful project track record give us access to highly competitive interest rates. That means more funds can be applied to infrastructure improvements rather than to finance changes.

Choosing an ESCO (Energy Services Company)

Choosing the right energy partner is an important decision. Energy efficiency and independence are our mutual goals. You'll want a partner who is also concerned about comfort, quality of life, and reliability. Experience, innovation, partnership, and teamwork are qualities that lead to successful projects. Ameresco believes these issues are crucial to your success.

When comparing qualifications, this checklist may be helpful:

  • Energy efficiency projects are the ESCO's core business
  • Government energy program experience
  • Manufacturer and product neutral - no preferences
  • Reputation for performance
  • Engineering excellence
  • Reputation for customer satisfaction
  • Integrity in business practices
  • Industry leadership
  • National presence
  • Ability to work with local contractors
  • Attention to quality-of-life issues
  • Dedication to your mission

We seek the best value and long term serviceability for the Government.

Guaranteed Performance

The energy cost saving performance of our ESPC project design is guaranteed under the authorizing legislation. We provide Monitoring & Verification of savings in strict compliance with Federal Energy Management Program guidelines.
