Energy Efficiency: BLM Hires Ameresco to Help Pay the Bills, Cut Energy Costs

If you think making sense of your electricity bill is a challenge, try handling and monitoring 1,800 accounts and 18,000 energy invoice payments every year. Faced with that chore, the Bureau of Land Management decided there was a better way and hired energy efficiency solutions provider Ameresco to set up a  bureau-wide energy management information system to help cut the BLM’s energy costs (about $9 million per year), consumption and carbon footprint at agency facilities throughout the western states. The company’s AMERESCO AXIS® invoice management product is designed to accurately manage and assess those costs and provide more efficiency at bureau facilities by developing and managing a comprehensive energy relational database and an online reporting system. AXIS also provides data and energy supply management support, account assurance, deposit management and tracking, carbon management, environmental reporting, project emissions reporting and Energy Star reporting.

Quick Take: It’s encouraging to see more government agencies take active roles in improving their energy efficiency, as well as cutting costs and consumption.
