Shoreline Public Schools, WA

Through a rigorous competitive bid process, Ameresco, Inc., won a $4+ million project with Shoreline Public Schools to handle all of the district’s energy efficiency needs, including lighting upgrades, water conservation, trash management, evaporator fan controls, vending misers, and boiler replacements at various facilities throughout the district. This will be one of the largest ever energy efficiency projects instituted by a school district in the State of Washington, and one of few in which the projected energy savings will fund the project costs. After construction is complete, this project will save the district nearly $300,000 annually. Additionally, the district will benefit from over $400,000 in utility incentives, which will also help to fund the project. The student population of Shoreline Public Schools is approximately 10,000 students in 16 schools. Ameresco will be making numerous district-wide improvements. “Based on [Ameresco’s] reputation and the qualification of the individuals, we look forward to a very successful program,” said Paul Flemming, Shoreline Public Schools Comptroller. “The thoroughness of the proposal and the guaranteed energy savings which made the project budget neutral was a major selling point.” He went on to say, “This project will be a win-win for the tax-payers because it reduces the amount which will go back to voters for bond later on.” “We applaud the School District for their vision to fund infrastructure renewal through energy conservation and create an enhanced learning environment for the children of Shoreline. The community should be proud of the environmental stewardship demonstrated by the District on a project which will reduce emissions by approximately 1.2 million pounds a year – the equivalent of removing 8932 cars off the road,” said Trip Tripathi, Vice President at Ameresco.
