Canada Games Aquatic Centre Wins Energy Efficiency Award
Award-Winning Energy Efficiency
Ameresco’s work on the Canada Games Aquatic Center has been named one of the Top 15 Clean50 Projects for 2016
Ameresco and the City of London embarked on a comprehensive improvement project to enhance energy efficiency at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre built in 1991. After conducting a thorough condition assessment and energy audit, Ameresco recommended several solutions, including a combined heat and power (CHP) system, HVAC upgrades and the replacement of outdated electrical and mechanical equipment.
The project was completed on budget and on time, delivering the following benefits to the Aquatic Centre:
- Annual utility cost savings of $113,600
- 45% reduction in aggregate greenhouse gas emissions
- Aggregate energy reduction of 42%, including a 51.6% reduction in natural gas use and a 28.3% reduction in electricity use
All of these energy efficiency enhancements were made to maximize financial savings for the facility while balancing the carbon reduction benefits associated with overall energy savings and fuel switching.
Ameresco provides a full range of energy efficiency services, from energy audits to design, construction and operation of traditional and renewable energy systems. Our in-house team of engineers and project managers brings decades of experience to projects in the public and private sectors.
