Ameresco Canada Secures $1.8M Energy Efficiency Deal with Centre Hospitalier Pierre-Janet

Montréal, QC. June 13th, 2011. Ameresco Canada has signed a major energy efficiency agreement with Centre Hospitalier Pierre-Janet valued at $1.8m. The agreement will see significant energy efficiency and green energy works implemented within the facility including a ground-source heat pump system with 40 geothermal wells.

The agreement, which was finalized in late May, will see a partial steam to hot water conversion, an off-peak electric heating system and installation of a new BAS for major systems within the facility in addition to the ground-source heat pump system.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with Centre Hospitalier Pierre-Janet to assist them in achieving their environmental goals and help create a cleaner and more energy efficient healthcare community around Gatineau and the National Capital Region. Hospitals are poised to help initiate change and educate the wider community about their immediate surroundings and the environment. The Centre hospitalier Pierre-Janet is at the forefront of helping initiate environmental change within Québec,” said Mario Iusi, Ameresco Canada President.

“We are constantly looking at ways to improve how we use energy and provide more environmentally responsible patient care to those utilizing our services. Working with Ameresco Canada to implement these new measures will help us not only improve patient care but also help us achieve our ongoing environmental goals and aspirations,” said Alain Lamarche, director of hospital and administrative services from the Centre hospitalier Pierre-Janet.

More than $138,000 of annual energy savings are expected to result from the measures being implemented within the facility.
